Jim Wedge & James Hooke Ascot Honey U331 U457 SKIBO INVESTS BIG IN GENETICS James Hooke, of Skibo Angus, travelled to QLD to Jim and Jackie Wedge's Ascot Bull and Heifer sale in September looking at female genetics. "Ive noticed the consistancy of the Ascot cattle, particularly their structural quality and docility. Too many breeders here and in the New England have allowed bad feet and poor structure into their herds. I wanted to keep away from those problems" Skibo was able to purchase the sale topping Ascot Honey for $30,000. The 17 month old, unjoined heifer was the standout of the day and saw spirited bidding online and from several QLD studs. Sired by Lawsons Rocky and with Millah Murrah Paratrooper on her dam's side, the heifer shows exceptional docility and structure while also being in the top 5% for $A index, EMA and calving ease with all growth figures being in the top 20% of breed. James also bought Ascot Vera for $16,000. By Ascot Revolution, the 12 month old heifer is also in top 5% for EMA as well as great IMF and growth performance. "Besides all that, they're just bloody nice heifers. Very stylish and with great length. I see them a lot and they come over to me now" Both heifers will be joining Skibo's embryo transfer programme.
