About

Shorthorn bulls were first imported to Turanville by Dangar in the 1850’s. Thomas Cook followed his example, introducing new blood in the 1870’s and 1880’s. The stables and horseyards however were the heart of the station – all equipped with the finest gear available. There were 40 loose boxes and 20 stalls, foal-handling yards and breaking-in boxes. A private racecourse of one and a quarter miles was situated on the flat south-east of the homestead. Turanville is located between Aberdeen and Scone, only 2 minutes off the New England Highway.
