About

Rutherford Public School was established in 1985. Prior to the opening of the school, all of the students in this area attended the neighbouring Telarah Public School. Since 1985 our school population has grown steadily, and in 2016 the school has nearly 800 students. There are 32 classes, catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. This includes an Opportunity Class. It is a Stage 3 (Year 5 and Year 6) class that invites applications from across the district. Students who apply for the OC Class are assessed and offered placement by the Department of Education's Selective Schools Unit. Two other speciality classes are available, a mulit-categorical class and a technology class. All of the other 29 classes are available for local students. The school serves children in the Rutherford, Aberglasslyn and Windella Downs areas. Rutherford Public School is a happy and safe place for learning, it is physically attractive and offers wheelchair access to almost the whole school. Our school works with students, staff and community to strive towards a happy and safe school in which to work and play.
